PowerNews v2.50 Cory Wright, TRC Development January 2, 1991
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
┌──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┐
│ Version 2.50's news files are not downward compatible! │
├──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┤
│ This version will not work with any news files created with │
│ previous versions of the code! You must delete all of your │
│ old bulletin files. This is very important, because several │
│ of the features in this version will not work with the │
│ old format! │
└──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘
* Help is now available at the main menu by pressing F1. This will give
you a summary of commands.
* The (D) option changed so that individual bulletins are able to be
deleted. Your pre-2.10ß news files created with all prior versions of
this software are obselete. You will need to delete them and start
over. My suggestion is to import the ASCII file into a new bulletin,
or simply start over -- most folks' news screens are old anyway.
- The new format allows many new possibilities, like individual
deletion that is operative in this beta version. The 'banner' at
the top of each news file has been replaced with a more subtle
mark on the heading of each bulletin.
* Opening screen now unfolds one of two ways for variety. Colors on the
opening screen have been restricted so the sparkling effect works
better.
* Rearranged instructions on (V)iewing screen
* Removed delay at end from unregistered version
* Editor now rebuilds ANSI files after you've edited the ASCII file.
This way, you need only edit the ASCII file to make the changes in the
ANSI.
* (F)ill character added to (S)etup menu. The character you enter here
will comprised the background.
* Many, many more changes have been made. Please let me know what you
think about them.

PowerNews v2.03 by Cory Wright, TRC Development September 15, 1990
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
* Fixed a bug in the (I)mport Text option from the (A)dd menu. Text
should now correctly import into the editor.
* Fixed a bug dealing with null screens. If one was to press escape
without entering text, PowerNews/PCB would abort with error 5. Fixed.
* Added "Install CRC" description to the main menu for Setup to indicate
that Setup is the place to install your Registration line and CRC.
* Added "or ()'ed" for those using monochrome screens who could not
navigate through Setup. Add ()'s around as many options as possible
except the "Yes, No, Continue" prompt when saving a news screen.
* Increased program security.
* New address! TRC DEVELOPMENT
P. O. Box 53041
Knoxville, TN 37950-3041
* Redraw screen after exiting setup to show registration immediately.
* Other small fixes.

PowerNews! v2.02 by J. Cory Wright, TRC Development Group July 20, 1990
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bug fixes
---------
* PNEWS.CNF file now created correctly when not present in your GT
directory. Fixed the problem with "Error 5 @ line 30000".
* Once you've exited from the main menu, registered users can hit [ESC]
to return to the main menu or any other key to exit.
* Fixed background color on arrow (->) on the red main menu.
* Big thanks to Rod Duff and Allen Stone for pointing out Illegal
function call problems.

PowerNews! v2.01 by J. Cory Wright, TRC Development Group May 20, 1990
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm sure you've noticed the name change to PowerNews. I feel that it is
title I can grow with. All future files will be distributed as
PNEWSxxx.ZIP.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
To allow you to upgrade easily, a switch has been included in PowerNews
to allow fast and easy upgrades! Put PNEWS.EXE in your GT directory,
then type PNEWS /UPGRADE. Read README.!!! for more detailed
information.
Additions/Modifications
-----------------------
* A FULL SCREEN EDITOR! Yes, folks, no longer do you have to put up
with the sub standard entry system of the past. The new editor is
almost identical to Qedit. You can block move, copy, delete. It has
word wrap and full use of all cursor keys. I've even included online
help via the F1 key.
* Mouse support. Even though PowerNews is not totally mouse
controlled, I've started incorporating mouse functions into the program.
Right now, the only place you can use it is on the full screen editor.
You can manipulate scroll bars, plus the size of the window just by
dragging the corners with your mouse. Marking and moving of text is
also available. Of course, you must have your mouse driver present in
memory.
* New one-touch bulletin choice selection
* New background, moved menu up one line, new title screen (like it?)
* New header line .. you'll need to change the ■'s to *'s if you want to
keep from having more than one header.
* Added new options to the Setup. Look in there for more toggle switches.
* Added support for the BBS/CBS path
* Made 'SUBJECT' field entry more realistic.
* Lots of alignment changes...
* Better 'feel' to the program to help you get your job done faster.
* Allow for escaping when (E)diting a file between the ASCII and ANSI
screen loads.
* Allowed for backing out of ALL operations via the [ESC] key or [Q].
* Editor defaults to Insert Mode ON (Bill Thomas)
* Added (C)ontinue option to Save? choice so that you may go back and
re-edit a bulletin before saving it
* Added substitution codes supported by GT 15.XX
You may place the following codes anywhere in your bulletin:
Code Replaced with
------- -------------
@DATE@ Current date
@FIRST@ Caller's first name
@CITY@ Caller's hometown
@MIN@ Number of minutes left online for that call
@NAME@ Full name of caller
@UK@ Amount of kilobytes uploaded
@UF@ Number of files uploaded
@TIME@ Current time
@DK@ Amount of kilobytes downloaded
@DF@ Number of files downloaded
@DCE@ DCE (Modem to Modem speed) ** GT 15.50 **
@DTE@ DTE (Computer to Modem speed) ** GT 15.50 **
* Inline color (suggested by James Craig) is now supported as you type in
your bulletin.
Code Replaced with
------- -------------
@1@ dim blue
@2@ dim green
@3@ dim cyan
@4@ dim red
@5@ dim magenta
@6@ dim yellow
@7@ normal grey
@8@ dim grey
@9@ bright blue
@10@ bright green
@11@ bright cyan
@12@ bright red
@13@ bright magenta
@14@ bright yellow
@15@ bright white
@@ returns the color back to the text color setting in Setup.
Example: @4@Hello@@, my name is @11@Cory@@.
This would print 'Hello' in dim red, change back to the original
setting, print ', my name is ', then change to bright cyan, print
'Cory', then change back to the original setting and print the period.
Remember that the @code@ will disappear when the bulletin is written.
* Added an onboard viewer much like LIST. This makes everything a lot
nicer than the primitive approach used in earlier versions.
* New (B)lank or (I)mport question when adding a bulletin. This was
suggested by Raymond Wood and should prove to be an invaluable feature
for those of you who wish to import and modify text. YES! Once you
choose (I)mport, it loads the file into the editor for further editing
if you wish!!
* New option in Setup. Bulletins clear (s)creen? (TRUE/FALSE)
Suggested by Bill Thomas. Good for those who wish for the screen to
be cleared before displaying the bulletin file online.
* Unregistered versions do not retain the color setup information.
* I'm sure I've missed a few things, but they were most likely minor
enhancements....
